Prepare for the 2027 staff safety culture survey.

Start with the right requirement.

Florida nursing homes must conduct an anonymous staff patient safety culture survey at least every two years. AHCA’s first nursing-home reporting window runs June 1–August 31, 2027. Newly operational facilities have a separate first-reporting timing provision. Confirm your facility’s situation using AHCA’s current FAQs and Florida’s nursing-home statute.

Staff culture is not resident satisfaction.

This survey asks staff about the organization’s safety culture. Florida’s separate resident/family consumer satisfaction program requires a CoreQ-recognized vendor. Do not purchase one assuming it fulfills the other. See AHCA’s consumer satisfaction guidance.

Make these decisions before launch.

1. Instrument and specifications. Use AHCA’s adopted nursing-home survey and current instructions for state reporting. A generic survey or a different instrument version is not automatically interchangeable.
2. Participation. Identify the eligible staff population, communication approach, access needs, and reminder schedule. Participation affects how confidently leadership can interpret findings.
3. Privacy and access. Agree on how responses are collected, who can access them, and how small groups are handled. Do not make privacy promises the selected platform and process cannot support.
4. Reporting ownership. Decide who prepares, checks, and submits the required data. An executive presentation does not replace the state’s reporting file and participation information.
5. Follow-through. Reserve time for leadership to discuss results and choose a small number of accountable improvement actions.

Choose support for the work you actually need.

AHCA permits a third party to administer the staff survey and does not require selection from an approved-vendor list for this program. That is different from being endorsed by AHCA. A proposal should clearly identify administration, analysis, data preparation, submission responsibility, and action planning.

MDF can scope a survey project or help interpret results collected through another provider. The useful end point is a clearer set of decisions and next steps—not merely a completed questionnaire.
